Find another mechanic. You probably don't need a "valve job". You need new stem seals, which can be done on the car. Oxygen sensors can be done yourself. I would leave the converters in and drive it...

Almost always the REAR cam seals. Oil on exhaust manifold? Check. Oil on alternator? Check. Rear cam seal. Easy fix. Easier on the 3.5 than the 3.0, but easy nonetheless. This will get you started......
