Help - RVR Sports Gear - Auto Transmission
Hi There,
New Member First Posting -
Problem:
When in "Drive" the gears sometimes slip into "Neutral" with loss of power and revving of engine. I then put into second gear, wait for gear to re-engage, then move back up to "Drive" and continue. I know this is damaging, and fear it will get worse. I have tried to avoid using the car since - only at weekends for short journeys. I have approached two garages who have told me to either dump the car, or fit a new gearbox (2000 euro !). I don't know what the problem is, but the transmission oil is a little low and very dirty - I want to change this as a first measure, but need some help.
Question: Assuming the problem is not too little oil, what are the likely causes, and what are my best options before going to a garage ? I can upload any photos you might need. What type of transmission oil should I use ?

RE: Help - RVR Sports Gear - Auto Transmission
i own a 1998 RVR sports gear and i had the same problems, first your oil needs changing, but be sure that its the SPII or equivalent.
Secondly check the relays that controll the transmission, in my case we found condensation on the terminals.
I can't say it will work, but its worth a try.
good luck
